Tonsil stones are formed when debris, such as food particles and dead cells, gets trapped in the tonsil crevices. The debris can become trapped in the crypts of the tonsils and harden, forming tonsil stones. Some people are more prone to tonsil stones than others, and there are several factors that can increase the risk of developing them.
Bacteria is usually to cause of bad breath, but there are a number of health conditions that can be a culprit as well. Bad breath may be the first warning sign to more serious problems. Postnasal drip, respiratory and tonsil infections, sinus problems, diabetes, liver and kidney issues, and certain blood disorders can be causes of bad breath. Causes of Bad Breath from the Throat: Understanding the Root of the Problem
Brush your tongue, cheeks, and the roof of your mouth. Most bad breath bacteria live on the tongue. So brushing or scraping the tongue can make a big difference in your breath.
It can be difficult to determine if your breath smells bad, as we become accustomed to our own odors. However, there are a few ways to test your breath. One method is to lick the back of your hand and let it dry for a few seconds. Then, smell your hand. If there is an unpleasant odor, it may indicate that your breath smells bad.
Gargling strenuously with salt water may help in the removal of the stones and can ease the discomfort caused in the throat. It can also eliminate the constant lousy odor that comes with tonsil stones.
Without correct and regular brushing and flossing, and routine dental exams, food stays in the mouth. This is a breeding ground for bacteria. Food that collects on the teeth, gums, and tongue may rot. This causes an unpleasant odor and taste in the mouth.
